Caribou’s month-long volleyball season ended in the Aroostook League championship March 18. The boys’ games were hosted in Caribou while the girls played in Presque Isle. Five teams participated in the championship: Caribou, Fort Kent, Houlton, Madawaska and Presque Isle. Though the Viking boys and girls teams took third and fourth in their respective categories, both teams played well, showing effort and hard work.

With a final game record of 3-5, the Caribou Lady Vikings volleyball team finished in fourth place at the Wildcat gymnasium. The girls lost twice to Madawaska, 25-19 followed by 25-16.
They contended against county rival Presque Isle but lost again, first 25-11, then 25-14. The Vikings took two wins against Fort Kent, with a final score of 25-17 in both games. Caribou concluded the eight-game event with a 25-21 win over Houlton followed by a 25-8 loss to the Shires. The Lady Wildcats of Presque Isle took first place, followed by Madawaska and Fort Kent in second and third respectively. Houlton finished up the lineup in fifth.
The Caribou boys’ volleyball team fared slightly better than the Lady Vikings after tying Fort Kent for third place in Caribou. The Vikings took on Houlton, losing 25-18 initially but coming back for a second game win of 25-12. In their matchup against Presque Isle, Caribou went one-and-one again, winning the first game 25-20 but falling in the second match, 25-10. Against the Fort Kent Warriors, the Vikings lost 25-22 and won 25-23. In their two-game competition against Madawaska, Caribou lost both times, 25-14 and 25-10.
Their overall game record was enough to tie them with Fort Kent for third, while the Presque Isle boys won the overall event. Madawaska took second place and Houlton rounded out the teams in fifth.
