LIMESTONE — Caribou native Marko the master magician and hypnotist will be making his way back to Aroostook County for dinner and a show on Sunday, April 26 at the Limestone Community School (LCS) to raise funds for the Fourth of July festivities put on by the Limestone Chamber of Commerce (LCC).     “It’s been a long winter, and we’re looking to get people out and about again,” said LCC Board Member Danielle Michaud, who is on the fund-raising committee for the Fourth of July festivities in Limestone. “We’re in the process of obtaining a violinist to play from table to table during the meal and local artist Tom Cote is going to be creating a decorative ice sculpture to be placed on display,” she added.
“I’ve talked to people from Presque Isle, Fort Fairfield, Caribou, and Limestone who have either seen Marko perform and would love to see it again, or haven’t had a chance to see the performance and are excited about the opportunity,” said Michaud, “Marko’s performance is always very audience engaging and a lot of fun.”
Chef Tom and staff at LCS will be preparing dinner for the evening, including pasta, salad, bread and desert.
“We’re going to try to get some LCS students as servers for the dinner,” Michaud said, “we’ve had pretty good success with that in the past.”
Money raised during this Limestone Chamber event will be used to supplement sponsorship dollars for the Fourth festivities including fireworks and the notorious Fourth of July parade, which has drawn as many as 5,000 spectators and is the oldest parade in Aroostook County according to Michaud.
Between the antique car Beach Blast Show, Teddy Bear Picnic, parade, and pageant, the Fourth of July events will run from June 27 to July 5.
“This fund-raiser will hopefully enable us to proceed with all of the currently scheduled Fourth of July events,” Michaud said.
Tickets can be obtained through any LCC board member or through the Limestone town office and, for convenience, don’t necessarily need to be obtained in person.
According to Michaud, arrangements can be made through the town office to purchase tickets for the show and dinner through the mail.
There are going to be 200 tickets available for dinner and 645 tickets available for the performance. Dinner tickets cost $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12; tickets to the show cost $10 for adults and  $6 for children under 12.
According to Michaud, many tickets have already been purchased.
“We’re hoping for a sellout,” she said.
Sponsors of the magical event include Paradis Shop & Save, The County Federal Credit Union, Rollins Transport, Limestone Grocery, Haines Insurance Agency, Cary Medical Center, Thompson-Hamel, Paul’s Sub Shop, Caldwell Auto LLC, Hometown Fuels, Gilles Michaud Farms, Leavitt Farms LLC, Pines Health Services, Morin Sanitation, Cote Auto, T & A Variety, Katahdin Trust Co.
