The Caribou School Department will hold a very important registration night for all parents of students entering pre-K in the fall of 2009. This also includes parents of kindergarten students not presently enrolled in the Caribou School system. The registration meeting will be held at Hilltop Elementary School in room 16, Monday, April 27 at 6 p.m., for parents only. Children will not be screened at this time.
There will be a brief presentation by members of the school staff regarding the children’s education. At that time, parents will also be given a registration packet and an appointment time to register any child who will be enrolled.
Parents are reminded that in order to enroll their child in pre-K or kindergarten, they must provide a birth certificate of the child to be registered, as mandated by law. Hospital certificates are not acceptable.
A copy of immunizations obtained from the child’s medical providers office is also mandated by state law. Immunizations required by the start of the school year 2009-2010 are: 5 DPT, 4 OPV/IPV, 2 MMR, Varicella or documentation of chickenpox disease from a medical provider. (Four years and older).
A copy of guardianship/custody papers must be presented if it is warranted.
The Maine State Law mandates that kindergarten students must be 5 years of age on or before October 15, 2009. The pre-school program requires students be 4 years of age on or before October 15, 2009.
