Dance class starting
Small Steps Dance is now accepting registrations for their summer program. Classes will be held each Monday and Tuesday at the Caribou Recreation Department beginning June 22. Softball league looking for teams
The Houlton Softball Association is looking for more men and co-ed teams to join its league starting in June.
The organization is holding a mandatory meeting for anyone interested in putting a team into the league this summer at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 4 at the Houlton Recreation Department.
Soap Box Derby dinner Saturday; tech day May 9
The Northern Maine Soap Box Derby organizers will sponsor a dinner on Saturday, May 2, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Houlton Elks club. A meal of grilled chicken and all the fixings will be served. The children will accept donations at the door. The derby is set for June 20, at Derby Hill in Community Park. Rifle, pistol club to meet
The monthly meeting of the Houlton Rifle and Pistol Club will be at 7 p.m. on May 3, at the range located adjacent to the Houlton International Airport. Recreational shooting will follow the meeting. All members are encouraged to attend.
Hunter Safety Course
A Hunter’s Safety Course will be held Tuesday, May 5, and Saturday, May 16, with the course meeting the mandatory Maine licensing requirement for first-time hunters and is recommended for all Maine hunters.
The first session on May 5, will meet from 6-8:30 p.m. at Houlton High School, Room 32, while the second session on May 16, will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Houlton Higher Education Center. Attendance is mandatory at both sessions.
Instructor is Maurice Brewer. Cost is $3. To register, call the Adult Education Office at 521-3100, extension 5.
Students must be 10 years of age to take the Hunter Safety Course. Students between the ages of 10-12 must be accompanied by a guardian who is 18 years old or older.
ATV safety course slated
The Island Falls Free-Wheelers ATV Club will be hosting an ATV Safety Course on Saturday, May 16, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Island Falls Municipal Building. A lunch will be provided by the club.
