A busy summer is in the works for the Oakfield Railroad Museum with Railfan Day scheduled for July 18. Railfan Day will provide daylong family entertainment and honor Bangor & Aroostook Railroad’s former employees and retirees at a dinner at the Oakfield Community Center following the day’s festivities.
Jerry Angier an author from Cape Elizabeth will be at Railfan Day to sign his new book on B&A history titled: Bangor and Aroostook…The Life of a Maine Railroad. The 320-page hardcover book features 32 pages of color photos and connects the railroad’s history from the 1880s to 2003 when the B&A became a fallen flag.
At the May 12 annual meeting of the OHS, Max Lynds was re-elected president, Art Collier vice-president, Connie Bartlett, treasurer, and Marilyn Burton, secretary.
The railroad museum opened for the summer season on Memorial Day weekend with many new displays and a refurbished caboose. The museum will be open every weekend through Labor Day with free admission.
