First truck pull of season

    The Northern Penobscot Pullers started out their season of motor vehicle pulls Saturday, July 4th in Ashland. Despite the ominous clouds above and the occasional drizzle the pullers put on a great show.
ImageTRAVELING TROPHY – This year’s winner of the Jimmy Westerdahl Trophy is Gordon Kinney of Presque Isle. The July 4th weekend pull has been designated the Jimmy Westerdahl Memorial Pull.     The July 4th weekend pull has been designated the Jimmy Westerdahl Memorial Pull in honor of a favorite and avid puller, Jimmy Westerdahl. Each year the winner of the two-wheel drive modified class receives a traveling trophy and this person returns the trophy the next year. This year’s winner of the Jimmy Westerdahl Trophy is Gordon Kinney of Presque Isle. Jere Humphrey, president of NPPA, presented the trophy to Kinney.
    The NPPA pullers will be in Springfield on Saturday, July 26 at 1 p.m.
     The standings for the Ashland pulls are as follows:
    Two-wheel drive super stock 5,800 pounds: first, Gordon Kinney in Just 4 Play and second, Luke Tash in Gold Digger.
    Pro street (gas) 6,000 pounds: first, Malcolm McGraw of Levant; second, Adam Powers of Hermon and third, Garth Johnston.
    Pro stock diesel 8,000 pounds: first, Brian Bouchard and second, Malcolm McGraw, driven by Mark Prescott.
    Four-wheel drive super stock 5,800 pounds: first, Hampy Carter in The Instigator and second, Lester Theriault.
    Two-wheel drive modified 6,200 pounds: first, Charlie Greene of Exeter, R.I.
    Four-wheel drive modified 6,200 pounds: first, Austin Theriault in Ground Pounder II and second, Lee Theriault.
