To the editor:
I read Mr. Sean Callahan’s letter to the editor “Mr. Quint’s Legacy” and agreed with every word. I would use a stronger word than “disrespected”, I would use the word injustice. The way Wayne was treated after such a distinguished career is shameful to say the least.
A school district’s main focus is providing the youth of its community a well-rounded education so our children can enter society with the tools they need to succeed. What kind of message are we sending to the youth of our community as evidenced by the treatment of Mr. Quint?
One positive note in this whole tragedy is the outpouring of support for Mr. Quint. I know Wayne was hurt by the way he was treated but was encouraged by the support of his community.
This is no way to end such a distinguished career. I am sure the people responsible for this fiasco would not wish to have their careers end on such a sour note. Perhaps “do unto others” might be a good lesson for this unfortunate situation.
