    Brooks, Cedric L., 74, Higganum, CT; in Middlesex Hospital, July 16, 2009.

 

    HIGGANUM, CT – Cedric L. Brooks, 74, of Thayer Road, Higganum, died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Middlesex Hospital. He was born in Blaine, Maine, the son of the late Claude and Helen (Bradstreet) Brooks and grew up in Aroostook County, ME.  
    Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Pratt and Whitney Aircraft as a machinist.  Cedric also worked with Bangor and Aroostook Railroad and as a potato farmer.  Cedric enjoyed returning to Maine yearly, especially during harvest time. He will be remembered as an avid walker, kayaker, being a loyal fan of Tony Stewart and for his love of dancing with the Norwich 50+ Seniors Club, where he was an active member.  
    He is survived by four sons, Daniel Brooks and his wife Angelia of ME, Timothy Brooks and his wife Maureen of Higganum, Thomas Brooks and his wife Missy of AK, David Brooks and his girlfriend Mary McDonald, both of ME; two daughters, Kristie Charette and her husband John of ME, Julie Brooks and her fiancé Marty Hersom of ME; a sister, Verlie Penney and her husband George of FL; four grandchildren, Jeremy Brooks, Travis Charette, Jade Emily Brooks, Lance Brooks; also several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother, Steven Brooks and a sister, Darleen Brooks. Cedric was loved by all his children and grandchildren.  
    Funeral services were held Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Friends called at Biega Funeral Home Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. prior to the service.
