PATTEN — Katahdin Valley Health Center will celebrate National Health Center Week, Friday Aug. 7, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., 30 Houlton Street in Patten. Events will take place in the new parking lot across from the health center because of construction for the new addition.
Several free activities are scheduled for the day: blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, body mass index check, walk with a doc, chair massage, bouncy house and a clown making animal-shaped balloons for children. In addition to hourly door prizes, there will be a healthy snack table, and a build your own sandwich table at noon followed by strawberry shortcakes at 2 p.m.
State Senator Doug Smith will receive a Health Center Advocate Award for his support of rural health issues.
