The 9th Annual Strawberry Jam Festival starts Friday, July 24 in Stacyville with a theme of "In the good ol' summertime".
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be a flea market with artists, crafters and vendors on the tennis court. Call for free table space. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the hotdog booth will be open and at 1 p.m. there will be a kids cake contest for children under 16 only. From 5-6 p.m. there will be a pig roast/strawberry dessert with donations only.
From 6-8 p.m. there will be a kids dance – It's a Luau! Grades 3-5 on the tennis court-inside if it is raining. Also at 6 p.m. a raffle drawing will be held.
On Saturday there will be a flea market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. again. At 11 a.m. there will be a parade. Have lunch at the hotdog booth and at noon there will be an auction with Jim Pratt. There will also be kids games by the Junior Girls unit of the VFW.
At 2 p.m. there is a strawberry preserves contest and from 4:30-6 p.m., a ham/bean supper with strawberry shortcake. Admission is by donation and supper entertainment is Tim Humphrey of Houlton. There will be a raffle drawing at 6 p.m.
Sunday begins with a pancake breakfast from 8-10 a.m. for $4. At 9 a.m. there will be a horseshoe tournament and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the flea market will be open.
The hotdog booth opens at 11 a.m. and from noon to 2 p.m. there will be an ice cream social. Also at noon there will be a kids gospel group – John Birmingham and friends, then at 3 p.m. is the judging of the kids art show.
From 4:30-6 p.m. is the famous chicken BBQ/strawberry dessert for $7 adults and at 5 p.m. is the flag retirement ceremony.
Allison and Peter Roy will provide musical entertainment from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
