SACS K-6 students complete summer program

Culture and the Arts was the theme of the 2009 Southern Aroostook Community School’s summer program, directed by Greg Bagley. .    Children from grades K-6 focused on math, reading and writing skills for reinforcement.
Complimenting the academic program, students participated in extracurricular activities that included, karaoke, card making, strawberry picking, making jam, line dancing, making ceramics and playing hand bells. Students also enjoyed musical presentations, including guitar, clarinet and saxophone playing. Other programs were, Healthy Hands, moose antler art and a clown show.
    Students took a field trip to the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum in Littleton to learn about farm life and to visit the Ross School.
Parents attended a barbecue on the last day of the program and viewed the students’ work. They also enjoyed a slide-show presentation.
Myrna Sprague was the coordinator with Nick Chambers as her assistant. Other staff included, Mary Beth DiMarco, Janine Guetterman, Sandra Sherman, Paula Lilley, Lana Desmond, Brenda Thompson, Anne St. Pierre, Meagan Brooks, Scott Holmes and Kelly Sonderman, assisted by her son Quentin.
Carlene Sanders and Tina Casey served breakfast and lunch. Judy Cameron provided transportation.
