TOPS #ME 233, Houlton
By Lois Downing
Take Off Pounds Sensibly, Chapter 233, of Houlton met at the Aldergate building for its weekly meeting, Friday, August 7.
Leader Joyce Estey returned from retreat and was back to take charge of the meeting.
After roll call, Joyce read a letter from Janice Cote, our representative, stating the next workshop would be in Connor August 15 and gave directions to Sacred Heart Church, for those who would be attending. Joyce also read a thank you note from member Barbara Troy.
Joyce asked for volunteers for the next meeting; the schedule is: Joanne Scott, August 14, Lois Downing, August 21 and Elinor Harvey, August 28.
Janette Nelson gave the monthly treasurer’s report, up-to-date as always.
Weight recorder’s report by Joanne Scott revealed 14 TOPS’ ladies and 5 KOPS were weighed. Janice Shaw was loser of the week followed by Linda Bartlett as runner-up.
Donna Parent, in charge of the skinny dish, conducted the drawing. Janette, last week’s winner, drew Charlotte Marley’s number.
Barbara Grant reported on the bylaw situation and she will type the new bylaws. Joyce stated copies will be forthcoming. Barbara also led us in a few minutes of exercises at the ending of the program.
The new date for a potluck at Janette Nelson’s cottage is August 28, after the regular meeting.
Charlotte urged everyone to call two members, not ordinarily called, on the new contest. She distributed petals and greens to those competing in the contest.
Joyce’s program contained the subject of four kinds of persons: a. mathematical; b, organized thinker; c, emotional thinker and lastly, imaginative thinker.
Each had its own personality – a. group, follows logic; b. group, consider yourself organized; c. group, thrives in the company of others and d group, you tend to look at the “big picture.” Each TOP or KOP lady gave her group and the reason and it proved to be very interesting. Joyce urged everyone who hadn’t met their goal to please try and she ended by saying, “We can do it.”

Come and join us — everyone is welcome.
