Central Aroostook and Ashland both remained perfect on the links this season, setting the stage for what could be an important match between the two teams on Friday. Ashland improved to 5-0 on the season with wins over Hodgdon, Limestone-MSSM and Fort Fairfield. Central Aroostook improved to 3-0 on the young season with a win over Hodgdon in its only match of the week.
The following results were reported to the newspaper by presstime.
Ashland 10.5, Hodgdon 0.5 — At the Portage Hills Country Club Monday, the Hornets (5-0) won their fifth straight match on the season with a near shutout over Hodgdon. Ashland’s Mark Corella was medalist on the day with his round of 39. Ashland’s team stroke total was 267, while Hodgdon’s was 308.
The individual results, with Hornets listed first, were: Corella (39) defeated Chris William (52); Jordan Beaulier (54) beat A.J. Acott (65); Dylan Cyr-Cormier (58) bested Paul Griffin (63); Taylor Condon (60) tied with Chris Wallace (60); and Amos Ward (56) beat Nick Lunn (68).
Limestone-MSSM 7.5, Fort Fairfield 3.5, Ashland 7, Fort Fairfield 4, Ashland 7, Limestone-MSSM 4 — At the Limestone Country Club Thursday afternoon, golfers had to contend with blustery wind conditions on an otherwise pristine day for golf. Team scores from the meet were: Ashland, 272; Limestone-MSSM, 279; and Fort Fairfield, 292.
Ashland’s Corella was medalist for the day with his low round of 45.
The individual scoring results were as follows:
Fort Fairfield (1-3) — Billy Weissman, 59; Ian Girvan, 63; Josh Churchill, 52; Landon Towle, 60; and Brandon Scott Clark, 58.
Limestone-MSSM (1-2) — Josh Forsman, 48; Shane Flanigan, 57; Ty Tracy, 51; Julia Weatherhead, 65; and Nate Berube, 58.
Ashland —Carella, 45; Beaulier, 50; Cyr-Cormier, 56; Condon, 51; and Ward, 70.
Central Aroostook 7, Hodgdon 4 — At the Mars Hill Country Club Wednesday, Central Aroostook continued its dominance on the links, improving to 3-0 on the season. Team stroke totals were: Central Aroostook, 280 and Hodgdon, 290.
The individual results, with Panthers listed first, were: Kingsbury (53) tied with Williams (53); Delong (46) defeated A.J. Acott (63); Logan McLaughlin (59) lost to Paul Griffin (49); Abe Brewer (60) split with Chris Wallace (60); and Tim Lawrence (62) defeated Nick Lunn (65).
