Prep Classes for GED
MSAD 29/70 Houlton/Hodgdon adult education classes for the General Education Development (GED) high school equivalency diploma begin this week at the Houlton Higher Education Center. CLA health fair Thursday
HOULTON — The Community Living Association, CLA, will hold a health fair with demonstrations and information at the Career Enhancement Center, 2 North Street, Houlton, Thursday, Sept. 3 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Volunteer presenters will answer questions about many topics of interest. Among the presenters and topics are: Aroostook Mental Health Center – services for victims of sexual assault and healthy relationships; Cooperative Extension – nutrition; Houlton Regional Hospital – hand washing, MRSA, cough etiquette and tobacco cessation; Serenna Fitzpatrick- massage therapy; Carol Westerdahl – wellness; and IRIS Network – resources for those with visual impairments.
In addition to demonstrations, free literature, blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, there will be demonstrations on fire safety and how quickly fire and smoke spread in a home. The Houlton Fire Department will have its mascot, Logan the Fireman on hand as a special treat for children.
