Northern Lanes Bowling information
    PRESQUE ISLE — Several organizational meetings for the Northern Lanes Bowling Alley have been set for the week of  Sept. 8. The Womens Tuesday Night League will meet 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8; Mens Monday and Wednesday leagues will meet 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9; Mens Thursday Night League will meet 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10; and Sunday Night Mixed Doubles will meet 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13.     Also, the Junior League’s first week of play begins Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. For more information, call 764-1532.
    Open bowling hours from Sept. 8-26 will be Monday –Friday, 6-9 p.m.; Saturdays, noon-9 p.m.; and Sundays, 1-5 p.m.
PIHS Athletes of the Week
    PRESQUE ISLE — Presque Isle High School students Tyler Eager, Mike Picard and Jaylee Fox were chosen as “Athletes of the week of Aug. 17-22 by the Presque Isle Varsity Club and Big Cheese Pizza. Eager and Picard are team statisticians for the boys varsity soccer team. Fox is a member of the Wildcat cross country team.
Woodsman Open tees off Saturday
    PORTAGE — The Woodsman Open golf tournament will be held Saturday at the Portage Hills Country Club. Registration will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. The cost is $120 per team, and each team is comprised of three golfers. There will be separate mens and ladies divisions.
    The first nine holes will feature a “best ball” format, while the last nine holes will be a scramble format. There are no handicap restrictions.     A hole-in-one prize of a 2009 Jeep Liberty, courtesy of  Percy’s Auto Sales in Presque Isle, will be offered. Cash prizes will also be available for gross and net winners.
