1910 – The Aroostook Valley Railroad, an electric railroad founded by local resident Arthur Gould, opens for business connecting Washburn and Presque Isle. Also in 1910, a new high school is built on the corner of Third and Blake streets. This school, which would eventually be known as Cunningham Middle School, was the first brick building in the school system. This Centennial fingertip fact is brought to you by the Presque Isle Historical Society and the Star-Herald.
