PRESQUE ISLE — Wetland conservationists and fowl hunters will team up over the weekend to raise funds and awareness of the need to preserve the natural habitat for various wildlife, including ducks and geese, during the annual Ducks Unlimited dinner and auction, with funds used to protect wetlands that serve as home to a number of water fowl, thus ensuring individuals an opportunity to partake in the age-old sport of hunting.     Ducks Unlimited, recognized as the “world leader in wetlands conservation,” — according to the organization’s Web site — is an organization with branches across the U.S. dedicated to the preservation of wetland areas that a variety of species, from four-legged to feathered, call home.
The event, hosted by the Aroostook County Chapter Ducks Unlimited, is scheduled to be held Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Northeastland Hotel in Presque Isle. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person, $60 per couple or $25 for “Greenwings” — age 17 and younger.
The evening includes dinner and the opportunity to bid on a wide selection of donated items, from one-of-a-kind prints, to sporting goods and more.
