Loring Development Authority Board Members discuss potential businesses

LIMESTONE — Loring Development Authority board members of the past and present gathered on Sept. 9 to discuss matters at hand.     During his president’s report, LDA President and CEO Carl Flora informed the board of the state of prospective businesses, among other things.
Flora stated that American Salmon has identified a potential site on the former base of about 10 acres, and is hoping to move forward very quickly on the approximately 10-acre site to the extent that they hope to be operational next June.
Because of the nature of business, American Salmon is currently looking at options for obtaining appropriate water. There is not enough ground water at the location to support their needs, and ‘regular’ water would need to be de-chlorinated.
Flora also reported to the board that Telford Aviation has recently been sold, though the Sky Bus project is in very good shape.
As Flora commented on the recent land speed racing event held by the Loring Timing Association, some board members encouraged one another to sign up for next year’s races. Flora stated that the event went well, with some racers stating that the ‘track’ is the best in the world. He commended local officials and the LTA for their excellent safety consciousness.
