Eagle alumni games set
LIMESTONE — The Limestone-Maine School of Science and Mathematics will hold alumni soccer games on Friday, Sept. 25 at the high school soccer field. The women’s game kicks off at 6 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call the high school at 325-4742.
Middle school boys win, tie
The Caribou Middle School boys put it all together, with outstanding performances at the midfield, defense and offense, for a 2-0 victory over Presque Isle Blue Sept. 4.
Adam Collins converted a Kameron Manter assist, while Dayne Savage scored off a Dustin Bouchard assist to account for Caribou’s offense.
Cody Herbert made several outstanding saves in recording the shutout in goal. Matt Frost and Breen Blackstone played exceptional defense along with Austin Caverhill and Tyler Strid.
Playing strong games at midfield were Greg Martin, Michael Boone, Taylor Thibodeau, Mitch St. Peter and Michael Marquis.
In another superbly played game held Sept. 11, the same teams battled to a scoreless tie. Caribou launched 20 shots on goal, but was unable to find the back of the net. Caribou played tremendous defense, led by Strid and Caverhill. Herbert again came up big on several occasions in goal.
Players excelling in the field were Boone, Colby Holdsworth, Matt Milliard and Frost.
Triathlon held Sunday
The fourth annual Plod, Pedal and Paddle Triathlon was held Sept. 12 at Madawaska Lake.
The triathlon consists of a four-mile run, a 12.5-mile bike and a 3.5-mile paddle.
For men, Jeff Dubis of Fort Kent won the road bike division with a time of 1 hour, 48 minutes and 31 seconds. Tom Campbell of Stockholm won the mountain bike division in 2 hours, 45 seconds.
On the women’s side, Eileen Carey of Presque Isle was first in the road bike division with a 1:59:31 clocking. The first overall team was made up of Will Sweetser and Sarah Dominick of Stockholm in 1:49:12.
