WISCASSET — In early October, Maine farms may apply for no-cost business planning assistance and profitability analysis through a competitive application process. In order to qualify, farmers must own their farmland and have been in business in Maine for at least two years. Other selection criteria include: proposed innovations or changes in current products or practices, and appropriate management capacity.

Applications for the Farms for the Future program will be available the first week of October, 2009.
