FORT KENT — The University of Maine at Fort Kent Division of Nursing will host a wound care workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 14, . from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at UMFK’s Fox Auditorium. The cost of the workshop is $35 for professionals; $25 for UMFK nursing honor society members, which includes annual membership dues; and $25 for UMFK alumni. Lunch will not be provided. Please register by Thursday, Oct. 1.
Presentations will be made by Suzette Surrells, R.N., WWC, from Valley Home Health Services; Dr. Byoung-Woo Yang from Valley Medical Association; Medline Industries; and Kinetic Concepts, Inc (KCI).
Learn the latest in wound care treatment with an overview of wound care assessment, pressure ulcer staging and documentation by Surrells. Dr. Yang, who completed a fellowship in wound care, will discuss strategies to manage wound care to promote optimal healing. Medline Industries will provide up-to-date information on all the latest in wound care products. KCI will provide a hands-on training session on wound V.A.C. Therapy.
The workshop is part of UMFK Division of Nursing Celebration of 25 years of nursing education.
