The Huskies, a club football featuring athletes from the Presque Isle and Caribou area, have been busy over the past three weeks competing in the Aroostook Football League

Wins have proven to be elusive for the Huskies, who dropped to 0-2 on the year following a 41-12 shellacking at the hands of the Houlton Knights, particularly Caleb Black who rushed for 190 yards with four touchdowns.
The league, which also includes a team from Madawaska, features a four-game in conference schedule, along with two out of conference games, culminates with a playoff series starting Oct. 24. The league championship is set for Saturday, Oct. 31.
Thus far, the Huskies fell 60-26 to the Mustangs of Madawaska and lost Saturday 41-12 to the Houlton Knights. The Huskies do have one, out of conference, victory under their belts with a 32-18 win over Fredericton.
Playing Saturday at Sincock Field in Caribou, the Huskies hosted the Knights of Houlton, and it was the visitors who were victorious. According to coach Stu Wyckoff, the Huskies played “tough, hard-nosed football” for the first part of the game, even going so far as to stop the Knights on two consecutive drives.

Deion Caudill and Kyle Ledue each scored a touchdown for the Huskies.
Leading 6-0, the Huskies appeared poised to go up by two scores, but the drive stalled at the five-yard line. On the very next play, Knight Caleb Black ripped off a 70-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 6-6.
“The air went out of the Huskies and they were never really in the game again,” Wyckoff said.
Black finished with touchdown runs of 70, 34, 11 and seven yards. Houlton improved to 2-0 in conference games.
Members of the Huskies squad include seniors Brian Brewer (Caribou), Justin Chaput (Presque Isle), Jake Cyr (Presque Isle), James Jordan (Fort Fairfield), Ledue (Caribou), Drew Long (Presque Isle), Jordan McLaughlin (Fort Fairfield), Codie Robbins (Caribou); junior Jacob Soucier (Presque Isle); sophomores Kyle Hewitt (Caribou), Cody Bryant (Limestone), Jason Case (Caribou), Caudill (Caribou), Tyler Grant (Presque Isle), Landon Keiser (Presque Isle), Jordan Mitchell (Presque Isle), Trey Stewart (Presque Isle); and freshmen Scott Delong (Presque Isle), Cody Flannery (Presque Isle), Mike Poulin (Presque Isle) and Allan White (Presque Isle).
The Huskies next game will be a non-conference matchup at 1 p.m. Saturday against the Black Cats of Fredericton, New Brunswick at Sincock Field.
