LIMESTONE — During a special town meeting held on Sept. 28, former multiple-term Limestone Selectperson Paul Poitras submitted his resignation to the Limestone Board of Selectpeople. With minimal discussion, the board accepted his resignation. According to town manager Donna Bernier, the Selectpeople may alter the nomination process undergone by potential Selectpeople under special circumstances; nomination papers are available as of yesterday morning at the Limestone Town Office. Twenty-five to 100 signatures are required for nomination, and the nomination application is due back to the town office by Oct. 16.
The election for the new Limestone selectperson will be held on Election Day, Nov. 3.
The Selectpeople also scheduled a special town meeting for Wednesday, Oct. 7 to transfer funds out of the snowmobile trail groomer account for the recent purchase of a new trail groomer.
Each year, the town of Limestone traditionally appropriates $4,000 into the snowmobile trail groomer reserve account in preparation for such expenses.
The Limestone Budget Committee will meet at 6 p.m. on Oct. 7, in the Municipal Building to make their recommendations regarding the groomer; the special town meeting will follow at 6: 15 p.m.
