Timothy Bossie, son of Dawn and Mark Bossie of Houlton, was honored during a White Coat Ceremony held at the Back Bay Events Center in Boston on Sept. 3. Bossie is a second-year student at the New England College of Optometry. The ceremony of receiving a white coat is called the “right of passage” signifying the transition from academics to the clinical portion of a student’s education. When putting on the white coat, it is the symbolic progress in the graduate program, giving the student the privilege of having a doctor to patient relationship.
