Area residents participating in the annual Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk held Oct. 3 in Fort Kent raised over $3,400. “Team Portage” was, for the second year, the local team that raised the most donations for the event. Better than that, walkers from the County walk site together raised over $12,000 for this worthwhile cause! Way to go! Team members would like to thank everyone who donated to all their team members. Congratulations and thank you all for your contributions to such an important cause.

Looking for something for the kids to do to celebrate this bewitching season? Why not come out to the Portage Lake Town Hall for a Pumpkin Party? Starting at noon Saturday, Oct. 24, there will be lots of fun and activities for families and kids. A concession stand will be selling lunches for $3 each with the proceeds supporting the recreation department. Games, pumpkin decorating and a costume contest are planned. At 1:30 p.m., the classic movie, “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” will be shown. For the bravest of children, there will also be a “spooky room” for those who dare to enter!
The party is for all grade school age children from all communities and their parents or guardians. Bring a friend, too, and come join the fun! For more information, go to www.connectmaine.com/portage.
