Bridgewater Historical Association
There will be a Halloween Dance on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Bridgewater Historical Hall on Main St. from 6 to 9 p.m. A $3 donation is all that is required to get in. Music will be live. Don’t forget to wear a costume as there will be prizes awarded. All are welcome.

Thursday, Oct. 22, will be the final night for the Music Jams. The BHA would like to thank everyone for their support. For more information, contact Leona Hess at 425-7948 or Jann Votaw at 425-7901.
Mars Hill Community Cupboard
Due to Thanksgiving and Christmas both falling on the fourth week of November and December, the food pantry will hold their 6-8 p.m. distribution dates on the third Tuesday of the month: Nov. 17 and Dec. 17.
The 1-3 p.m. distribution dates will still be held on the second Tuesday of each month. If you have any questions, contact Cathy Cropley at 429-8043.
Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. Long-time Rotarian Ray Jones spoke to the group about a few of the special club projects he has helped with over the years — the Little Acre of Potatoes, the Birthday Calendar and providing ambulance equipment were some of his favorite projects.
Tori Barber was inducted as the newest member of the club. Tori is the new manager of the Mars Hill branch of the Katahdin Trust Company. She lives in Presque Isle with her husband, Jim.
The special speakers were Glenda Dwyer, vice president of Physician Services, and Joy Barresi Saucier, vice president of Organizational Advancement, both with The Aroostook Medical Center. They spoke about the North Street Healthcare Facility in Presque Isle. The facility provides local access to professional health care. It was developed with much input from staff, health care providers and the community.
With The Aroostook Health Center’s 23 providers seeing over 60,000 patients in 2008 at seven sites, TAMC wanted to consolidate services to help with overall costs. When a downtown site became available, they proceeded with their plans.
Those services available at the new site include Aroostook Pediatrics, with five providers and evening hours four days of the week; Family Practice and Internal Medicine, with 12 providers; Laboratory Services, five days a week from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Walk-In Care for Non-Emergent care, open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. No appointment is necessary. For emergencies, the ER is still the place to go.
There is 25,000 square feet of space currently being used, with another 25,000 available for future expansion. The services are integrated, with electronic medical record information available to all providers. All seven of the hospitals sites will have access to the electronic records by the spring of 2010.
Panther Idol

The Fort Street PTCO would like to invite you to the first annual Panther Idol on Friday, Oct. 23. Come watch the talented children of Fort Street Elementary School showcase their talents.
The show will start at 7 p.m. and will be held at the Mars Hill and Blaine Community Center. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors. Come and support this fun event and the PTCO!

HAY RIDES were just one of the things available during the Carnival Day at Healing Hearts Ranch in Mars Hill on Saturday, Sept. 12. The Carnival is one of the biggest fund-raisers held by the ranch each year.
