CARIBOU – The County Federal Credit Union’s “Count on The County” Initiative Committee has awarded Ryan’s Heart the first $1,000 award in the “County on The County” Initiative.
The Fox family founded Ryan’s Heart in 2008, following the death of Ryan A. Fox. In emotionally supporting Ryan’s three surviving daughters, the family discovered that children require peer support programs and loving adults to help them learn to cope with the devastating effects that a death can cause.
The $1,000 award will support “Neighborhood Hearts,” a 10-week grief support workshop for children and their families or caregivers who are experiencing the death of a loved one and “Project Forget-Me-Not,” which provides a special keepsake tote bag to bereaved children.
The County Federal Credit Union (CFCU) “Count on The County” Initiative is awarding $1,000 to a non-profit organization in Aroostook County within the field of membership each month for the next 12 months.
CFCU encourages everyone to take part in this initiative by telling them who they think is most deserving. Residents of the region can nominate their non-profit organization at www.countyfcu.org. Eligible submissions must be a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in good standing.
