The stars will be out and shining brightly on Sunday, November 29. However they will be sparkling on stage, inside of the Caribou Performing Arts Center, as members of the Caribou High School Class of 2010 Project Graduation present, the second annual “Dancing Like A Star.”
The evening event will once again feature CHS students partner-up with faculty members, community members and even a media representative, as they dance their way to fame and hopefully, the winner’s circle.
Each dancing duo will perform their individual dance style and in turn audience members, at the end of all of the performances, will have the chance to vote for their favorites by donating a dollar for every vote they wish to cast.
Those in the audience may vote as many times as desired and when the final vote is delivered, the wining dancing divas will be announced. All proceeds from ticket sales and from the $1 votes will benefit the Caribou High School Graduating Class of 2010.
Last year ‘s show proved to be an impressive display of talent, twinkle toes, twirls and even tumbling as students and their celebrity partners held nothing back busting moves, that possibly even surprised themselves (or at least their partners) hoping to achieve the most votes.
Winners of last year’s “Dancing Like A Star,” fund-raiser were the fleet-footed, fantastic and funky duo of CHS Senior Victoria Wong and Ryan Deprey, Caribou Middle School teacher and coach.
Pirouetting partners for the Nov. 29 event include: Andrew Kirby, CHS teacher and Sophomore Natasha Bishop; Kenneth Atcheson, CHS teacher and Sophomore Elsa Thibodeau; Wanda Theriault, CHS teacher, and Sophomore Annie Collins; David Wakana, CHS assistant principal and athletic director, and freshman Meredith Sleeper; Jennifer Rand, CMS teacher, and Sophomore Erin Kinney; Nicole Carpenter, CMS teacher and Freshman Emily Soderberg; Todd Albert, Hilltop teacher and CHS girls soccer coach, and Sophomore Paige Small; Kris Doody, CEO Cary Medical Center, and Sophomore Demarre Doody Corriveau; and Tyler Pyburn, WAGM News sportscaster, and Senior Abby Small.
Once again, the evenings Mistress and Master of Ceremonies will be Elizabeth Barbosa and Jonathan Ouellette, both members of the graduating class. This team promises to keep the audience laughing with their cutting edge mix or dry humor and quick wits.
Save the date, Sunday, Nov.29, 7 p.m., stock up on dollar bills and come watch the dancing stars at the Caribou Performing Arts Center.
Members of the Class of 2010 and the Project Graduation Committee stated, “we are very greatful for the support of the faculty and those members of the Caribou community who have agreed to be such wonderful sports.”
Tickets for the fun, light-hearted competition will be $6 at the door. Don’t forget your $1 bills to vote —many times over for your favorite dynamite dancers.
