ST. AGATHA and SAVANNAH, GA – Robert “Big Bob” Ouellette passed away unexpectedly November 13, 2009 in Perth Andover, N.B. at the age of 64. He resided in St. Agatha with his companion of 16 years, Mary Michaud. He was born in Savannah, GA on October 3, 1945 to Henry and Harriet (Arnsdorff) Ouellette. He attended Sacred Heart Parochial School, St. John’s University in Moncton and later went on to graduate from the University of Moncton in Moncton, N.B. After teaching in Caribou for one year he finished his teaching career in MSAD #33.
At the time of his death, he was semi-retired and spent part of his time installing vertical blinds and importing numerous products from Canada for Aroostook County merchants. Most recently, he was president of the St. Agatha ATV Club and a co-chairperson of the St. Agatha Summerfest 2010 Festival. He was a “Mr. Fixit” who enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his family and friends, and was always ready to lend a helping hand. In the past, he was a member of the St. Agatha Historical Society and of the St. Agatha Volunteer Fire Department, served as a town selectman, and held a seat on the Planning Board.
Bob is survived by a daughter, Rachel, son-in-law, Bobby Michaud from Grand Isle, and a very special and treasured six year old grandson, Jack, who loved to hug and kiss his Pepere all the time; as well as a step-grandson, Tanner Marquis; the mother of his daughter Terry Ouellette of St. Agatha; a brother, Carl and sister-in-law, Nella Ouellette of Caribou; nephews Jason, Josh and his wife Karen and their two children Claire and Colby of Caribou.
Relatives and friends called at Michaud’s Funeral Home in St. Agatha on Tuesday, November 17 from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service at the Our Lady of the Valley Church in St. Agatha. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
