Langley, Merle, 88, Caribou, January 21, 2010. Committal services will take place in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Caribou. Arrangements are in the care of the Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, Caribou.

 

ImageImage    CARIBOU – Merle Langley, 88, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010.  Merle was born December 4, 1921, in Caribou, the son of Oscar and Myrtle (Smith) Langley. Merle was an incredibly hard working man, dedicated to work and his family. His camp at Madawaska Lake was always available for family activities. Early in his life, he worked running horses at S.W. Collins Co. at their mill. He then worked for W.C. Larkin and then Dead River Oil Company where he delivered oil for eighteen years. Merle also enjoyed fixing up and owning rental properties in Caribou for many years.
    He is survived by four sons, Morris A. of Palmdale, California, Wayne C. of Caribou, Bruce G. and his wife Rose of Caribou, Jeffery G. of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; grandchildren, Amelia A. of Orono, Kolin of Limestone, Adrian and Andrew of Tulsa, Ok, Nicholas and Jonathan of Caribou; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Caiden of Tulsa, OK; sister, Ada Tracy of Caribou; half brother, Richard Langley, of Saco. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years, Esther Ruth Morris Langley; his half brother, Forest King; his half sister, Hazel Walton; and his sister, Hannah Langley.
    Friends called 6-8 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover Street, Caribou. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, 11 a.m., at the United Baptist Church in Caribou, the Reverend John Kiehn officiating. There was a reception at the church following services.  Committal services will take place in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Caribou.
