CARIBOU – The Viking wrestling team concluded its regular season Saturday by hosting Dexter and Nokomis.
Caribou finished with a dual meet record of 16-6 after downing Nokomis and losing to Dexter.

“We did well on the year as a team,” said Caribou coach Todd Albert. “We were able to fill most of the weight classes and that helps in duel meets. We have only seniors on the roster and an improving group of younger wrestlers.”
The Vikes will compete in three championship meets over the next three weekends. The PVC championships are Saturday at Mattanawcook, the Eastern Maine Class B championships on Feb. 6 at Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield and the state championships are at Medomak Valley in Waldoboro Feb. 13.
In Saturday’s match, Caribou picked up 11 victories by forfeit and in the only contested match, Heiko Nichols of the Warriors pinned Justin Wilcox in 32 seconds in the 285 lb. division.
The Vikes dropped a close 43-36 decision to the Dexter Tigers.
In the 103 lb. class, Tyler Salisbury of Dexter scored a major decision over Caribou’s Michael Selander, 16-5. Caribou forfeited in 112, while Dustin Green of the Vikes was pinned by Dexter’s Andy Adams in 4:51 in the 119 match.
In 125, Andrew Levenselor of Dexter won by decision over Caribou’s Brendan Wood, 11-7, and in 130, Caribou lost by forfeit.
Kenny Griffeth of Caribou pinned Mike Ellis of Dexter in 3:33 to take the 135 bout. Caribou’s 140 wrestler, Jake Michaud, needed just 1:07 to pin Kyle Paquin.
Dylan Greenier of Caribou took the 145 class by forfeit and teammate Jake Maher won by fall over the Tigers’ Carl Snow in a match that lasted 59 seconds. Caribou picked up a forfeit win by Levi Bither in 160 and then forfeited the 171 division.
Doug Richardson of Dexter pinned Jeremy Miller of Caribou in 26 seconds in the 189 match. After Andrew Adams took the 215 division by forfeit, Zac Poirier of Dexter pinned Wilcox in 1:06 in the 285 classification.
