A 33-year-old Littleton man was killed Thursday morning in a motor vehicle accident in Smyrna. Gabriel Williams was driving south on Interstate-95 at about 4:30 a.m. when he lost control of the 2003 Sterling tractor trailer he was driving shortly after exiting the off ramp at the Smyrna exit.
Williams was the lone occupant of the commercial vehicle, which was hauling wood chips. The tractor trailer struck a utility pole, went off Route 2 and rolled completely over, according to Lt. Darrell Ouellette, troop commander for Troop F of the Maine State Police in Houlton.
The primary investigator is Trooper Chad Fuller, who was assisted by Troopers Michaud, Short, Flynn and Bailey. Assisting the state police at the accident scene were the Houlton Fire Department, Houlton Ambulance, Maine Public Service and personnel from DEP.
