Officers in the schools
To the editor:
As a parent I think having police officers around and in the schools is a great thing. As we all know here in Aroostook County, we have a problem with drugs in our schools. We all can turn our heads and say not my son or daughter but the sad fact is we really don’t know.
We’ve seen on television and it’s been talked about how bad the situation is. I believe there is another step we can do. We should bring drug-sniffing dogs into our schools to check the lockers and check the school grounds. We also believe that Augusta should make it easier for the principals and superintendents to make it happen without all the paperwork.
Just remember “it’s not cool to do drugs.”
