I see many people on a daily basis at the animal shelter. I see families coming in to see what we have for pets available.  I also see owners who need our help with their pets, placing them in new homes.  Honestly, I bet on a regular basis, I see 30-40 people a day. On some days, things are quite hectic. Four or five people need my help, kids running around having a great time, the phone is ringing and because of all of this, sometimes people may feel the attention they receive from us at their time of visit is not completely what they would like it to be.
So, I want to personally apologize to anyone who feels that if at anytime they were here, they were not given our 100 percent attention. We, as a shelter, never want anyone to feel that their generosity, whatever that generosity may be, goes unnoticed. We can tell you from the bottom of our hearts, that every bottle of bleach, every roll of paper towel, every dollar we receive, never goes unappreciated. We could not run this facility without the help of every one of you. I try my hardest to acknowledge every person that comes in the door and to make them feel comfortable and at home. This is a community shelter, here for all of you, to come to at any time and feel like you are helping us. Because every time you come to the shelter, you are helping us.
We have had an extremely good past couple of months when it comes to a lot of things. Our adoptions are up, thanks to you. And because of this, we are saving money on salaries, on vet bills, and cat litter. Also we have received several gift cards from you to help us buy supplies, so this also helps us financially. We are on a ballot from Bangor Savings Bank to receive $5,000. This is only possible with your voting. I am amazed at how many ballots are filled out for us on a day-to-day basis. So all of this and much more, you contribute to every day, sometimes without even knowing. We could not continue without every single one of you.
So please remember this the next time you come into the shelter and things are crazy. It is never anyone’s intention to make you feel like you are not valued. This community, as a whole, is a value to every single person that works for the animal shelter. We all thank you.
With this being said, if you would like to help us out with a fund-raiser, we need your help for the upcoming box lunch. It is in March and we are planning it now. So if you would like to be a part of this exciting and fun fund-raiser, please call me at the shelter for details at 532-2862 or e-mail animal@pwless.net.
