Grades 5 and 6 basketball results

The Spurs used an 18-5 run in the second half to pull away for the 24-15 win over the Clippers in the first semifinal match up. Pat Cash scored six of his game-high 10 points during the run for the Spurs. Jake Kinney nailed three baskets for six points, while teammate Kyle Morris hit two jumpers for four points. Jacob O’Berry also finished with four points with baskets on offensive rebounds. Connor Murchison led the Clippers with six points, followed closely by four points from Khasen Lowe. Issac Devine chipped in with three points and Marcus Ouellette rounded out the attack with two points.
Bradley Kinney’s basket late in the fourth quarter was the deciding factor as the Pistons held off the upset-hungry Celtics in the other semifinal showdown, 18-17. Kinney finished with a team-high 10 points, leading five Pistons in scoring. Gavin Kelley and Steven Kinney each netted first-quarter baskets for two points each, and Nick Bartlett and Josiah Morse also knocked down two points for the Pistons. Parker Lambert led the Celtic comeback with a game-high 12 points. Grant Stewart added the other five points for the C’s.
The Pistons and Spurs squared off in a defensive battle to decide the 2010 championship. The Spurs hopped out to the early lead as the Pistons couldn’t get the lid off their basket. Jake Kinney and Pat Cash each hit baskets for the Spurs who took a 4-0 lead into the half. The Pistons seemed rejuvenated after the break, outscoring the Spurs 8-4 in the third quarter to head into the final period knotted at 8-all. Gavin Kelley scored four of his game-high six points in the final frame to help the Pistons complete the rally and pick up the 14-8 hard fought win. Josiah Morse finished with four points for the Pistons and David Kofstad and Grant Bridges knocked down two points apiece. Kinney and Cash each tallied four points for the Spurs.
