CARIBOU – Flora Philbrick, 94, wife of the late Eugene J. Philbrick, died February 21, 2010, at Houlton, following a long illness. She was born at Fort Kent, February 6, 1916, the daughter of Abel and Frances (Patten) Violette. She was a graduate of the Van Buren high school. Flora was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her family. She was also employed at L.S Hall and Martin’s Clothing in Caribou for a number of years. She was a member of the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church where she was also a member of the United Methodist Women’s Group. Flora was also a member of the Caribou Extension and the Caribou Hoofers.
She is survived by a son, James Philbrick and his wife, Valerie of Caribou; three daughters, Florina L. Willis of Hamden, Ruth W. Bryant and her husband, Kenneth of Winthrop and Janet Chandler of Lincoln; one sister, Hattie Gahagan of Manchester, CT; seven grandchildren, Michele Theriault, Heather Perry, Trenton Chandler, Mairi St.Amand, Andrew Bryant, Jennifer Sherman and Lacie Philbrick; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Coleman, Woodrow and Alphy Violette.
Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 12 noon until time of funeral services, which will be held at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the funeral home. Spring interment will take place in the Woodland Cemetery. Friends who wish to contribute in memory of Flora may do so to the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
