Image    Searsmont – Kenneth D. Lavoie, 56, passed away February 19, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. Ken was born October 31, 1953, in Caswell, Maine. He was the son of Alphonse and Adelia (Ouellette) Lavoie.
    Ken was an ardent patriot and student of American history. His interest in politics was legendary, and a source of comment among family and friends. He and Jody recently completed a trip to his Mecca in the west — The Ronald Reagan Library. He was a master electrician and a skilled trouble shooter of intricate electrical components. For ten years he was co-owner of a large construction firm. Later, as a mill manager for Pleasant River Lumber Company, he envisioned and incorporated a multi-million dollar upgrade bringing in state-of-the-art forest products manufacturing technology. At the time of his death, he was back in the construction industry he loved.
    Ken will be sadly missed and is survived by his childhood sweetheart of 33 years, Jody (Ward) Lavoie and his beloved children Jessica Snyder and her husband Todd of Hope and Laurie Merrill and her husband Derrick of Dover-Foxcroft. Grandchildren: Joshua, Emily, Samantha, Leah and Tyler.
    In addition to his mother, he is survived by one brother, Roger Lavoie and his wife, Nancy of Standish and three sisters, Marcelle Lavoie of Manchester, CT, Lynne Lavoie and her husband Maxwell McCormack of Unity and Lisa Lavoie of Caribou and several nieces and nephews.
    He is predeceased by his father, two brothers, Maurice and Raymond and one sister, Sylvie.
    Friends called from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2010, at Lancaster & Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou, ME and a celebration of his life was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 22, 2010, at Lancaster-Morgan.
