HOULTON — The annual Houlton-Hodgdon Dollars for Scholars Phone-A-Thon will take place from Monday April 5 through Wednesday April 7 between 6 and 8 p.m. to raise scholarship money for graduating seniors going on to college.
Hodgdon/Houlton High School members work together on this project to help defray students’ costs of college. They hope it will be as successful as it has been in the past.
“We rely on the generosity of local residents and businesses in the greater Houlton area which supports students of SAD 29 and 70. We hope you will continue to make your donations as you have in the past. This year, we will be offering a call-in line where you may call us to make your donation,” said Hollie McPartland co-chair of the committee.
Every graduating senior who applies for the scholarship will receive a cash award. The amount of scholarship money will depend on the financial need of the applicant and the money generated by the phone-a-thon and another fund-raising event – the ever-popular canoe race coming up in May 1.
Juniors and seniors from Hodgdon and Houlton high schools will call local residents to solicit donations for scholarships which will be given out to graduates from both schools. Anyone who wants to make a pledge can call the special hotline number 694-9611 during those three days.
