The Sea Storm
By Brandon Bennett
Grade 5 -GHCA
On a mild day in 1982, the S.S. Meddle Breaker was on a search and rescue mission. Out of 230 lives aboard, two were Captain Peter Smith and Scott Hatfield. Halfway to the ocean, there was this squeaking noise.
“Scott, check in the engine room and see what is happening,” ordered Peter. Seconds after Peter said that, Crack! Peter said, “What was that?”
“We’re taking on water!” Scott said. It was taking on 80 feet of water per minute.
Peter ordered, “Start the pumps.” Little does he know that the pumps broke on impact. Just as they were gonna die, Thud! All was silent.
“We hit land,” said Scott cheerfully. “We did it!”
Up to this day, all 230 survivors live a happy life.

I love my big brother
By Kathryn Lovett – GHCA
Hi, my name is Kathryn and I’d like to say that I have a great big brother. His name is Paul. He was always there for me. And I’m writing this for him so that he knows how much I love him. Paul is 23 and the greatest brother.
When we got in a moose accident when I was about 4 he comforted me. He comforts me when I don’t believe in myself. He takes me places all the time. He even gave me his room!
I’d like to say if Paul is reading this right now I want him to know how much I care about him and love him. He’s the best brother I ever had! I need him, I always will! So Paul, thank you for everything you’ve done.
I love you Paul! And I thank you.

Hurry! Come on guys! Mary Slessor was telling her African children. Mary was needed to stop a war between tribes. Mary told them to sit down, she sat making a shirt. Mary worked where a lot of witchcraft went on. One time she had to stop a person from eating another person! She took in twins so they wouldn’t be killed. One time, the English police had to come to tell them to settle down. They said they wouldn’t. At that time, Mary sensed that she was needed there. So she went and they obeyed!
Mary Slessor was called by the English government to come and receive a reward. All of her friends from America came and even some Africans.
Two famous presidents
By MacKenzie Bagley
Grade 2-GHCA
George Washington was born on Feb. 22, 1732. He was a general in the war to fight for our country’s freedom. He was our first president for eight years. People said he was our first in war, first in peace, first in the hearts of his countrymen. He was loved by everyone and there is a Washington Monument in honor of him.
Abraham Lincoln was born on Feb. 12, 1809. He was the 16th president during the Civil War. He abolished slavery and was shot by John Wilkes Booth. People built the Lincoln Memorial.
I am glad God made them presidents.

I like strawberry. That is my favorite. Bill was getting blueberry. Then my mom came for a surprise. We had an awesome time. I hope we do it again!
