Hogan, Alecia A., 81, March 27, 2010.  Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton.     HOULTON – Alecia A. Hogan, 81, passed away March 27, 2010, with her loving family by her side at home. She was born Feb. 18, 1929, in Houlton, and was the last surviving child of George Esbun and Reta (Prosser) Gentle.
    Alecia attended Ricker Classical Institute. She was a devoted mother and wife. Although born during the Depression, she led a rich life by making her home a wonderful, inviting and loving refuge for all who entered. She enjoyed country music and the bands of the '60s. Her favorite times were spent with family and her pampered feline friends. All that had the pleasure of knowing her loved her and enjoyed the times spent with her. She loved to doodle, complete crossword puzzles and put together picture puzzles. She spent many hours reading and loved a good mystery. She and the love of her life, Jack, took many trips to the coast and loved to visit their children wherever they called home at the time.
    Alecia is survived by her loving and adoring husband of almost 64 years, Jack; her two daughters, Candace and her life partner, John Kiesow, of Albion and Sherry and her husband, Allison Watson, of Houlton; her beloved grandchildren, Jodi Reta Anderson of Portland and Douglas John Anderson, most recently of Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas; and two special nieces, Bonnie (Belyea) Tidd of Hodgdon and Luanne (Belyea) Tuttle of Houlton. Alecia also leaves behind two very special children of her heart, Adam Courtemanche of Portland and Patsi Lee Dow of Seminole, Fla. She will be sadly missed by her best friend, Ruth Gove. Also missing her love and affection will be her cat, Missy. Several other nieces, nephews and cousins survive her.
    She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Ola Dean Belyea and her husband, Paul; and her two brothers, Paul "P.G." and George E. Jr. "Bodie."
    The family wants to express their gratitude to Dr. Ted Sussman for his exceptional care and empathy for Alecia. They also wish to acknowledge and thank Visiting Nurses of Aroostook; Jane Zimmerman, R.N.; Karen Umphrey; her caregivers, Colleen London, Kathy Ledger, Nancy Bledsoe, Debbie Upton and Dottie Kendall for their love and compassion.
