Ricker Rumblings
By Lois Downing
The Easter season is still with us. Enjoy and be glad! The Houlton ambulance was in our driveway a couple days ago. Karen Bither fell but after an examination, she went back to her apartment. Good for you, Karen, and be careful.
Kathryn Hall was a recent overnight visitor of her mother, Lois Downing. We had an Easter party in the community room. Several of our ladies were there, and Paul Armstrong, who entertained us. We sang and he played guitar. Many of the old time songs were sung. It was fun and we thank Charlene for bringing us together and the nice lunch.
Lillian Stairs is no longer at Houlton Regional Hospital. Lillian, where are you?
Isn’t the weather beautiful? I had Easter dinner outdoors, 15 of us and two came later in the day. I spent Easter in Hudson and Bangor with family, had a nice time and glad to be back home again. I was sorry to learn of Sandra Hartford’s passing, another victim of cancer. She was always so sweet and friendly. Our sympathy goes to her husband, Wayne and family.
Several of my friends are on the sick list. If you are one of them, get better, stay well and keep well.
I’m told that the forsythia is blossoming, across from Ricker Plaza. That is something to behold. Keep watching. The reading for the day is: “His Lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things. I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” (Matthew 25:21)
Enjoy the week and keep well.

By Lois Downing
Take Off Pounds Sensibly, Chapter 0233 of Houlton met at the Aldergate building on High Street for its Friday, April 2 meeting.
A goodly part of the morning was spent with installation of newly and reinstalled officers with Charlotte Marley as installing officer. An added attraction was Dale Holden and Barbara Hogan entertaining with harps so there was music added to the day, much enjoyed.
Installed were: leader, Joyce Estey; co-leader, Betty Ivey; secretary, Lois Downing; treasurer, Janette Nelson; weight recorder, Denise Kinney and assistant to weight recorder, Jackie Reinzo.
Linda Bartlett was the photographer for the day.
Dale Holden was the loser and 17 TOPS and 5 KOPS were weighed. Dale also was the skinny dish winner.
Before the ceremony of the day, Joyce told of the workshop in Van Buren; Gerry McAfee, Melva Folsom and Brenda Lacostic were named in top 15 group. Chapter 0233 will host a workshop June 12 in Houlton.

Joyce Estey, newly reinstated leader of TOPS 0233, opened the meeting reciting the Circle of Hope poem, with members reciting it too.
