Washburn Scouts heading to Jamboree
To the editor:
My name is Brandon Cropley, from the Washburn Boy Scout Troop 177. I would like to inform the community that this summer we are going to travel to Washington, D.C and Pennsylvania for two weeks. There will be 11 Scouts and 12 Troop leaders going. We will be traveling in our troop bus, and camping in tents. We will also be cooking our own food.
When we get to Washington, D.C, we will be visiting the White House, the Capitol, The Smithsonian Institute, and laying a wreath at the tomb of unknown soldiers. We will also be attending the National Boy Scout Jamboree. We will then be traveling to Pennsylvania and visiting Gettysburg, Luray Caverns and Hershey.
We have been doing a lot of fund-raisers like selling popcorn, pizza, Avon, and candles, doing bottle drives, as well as having a bean supper. We also had an auction and raffled off a quilt. I would like to thank everyone that has helped out along the way.
We still have some fund-raising to do in order to earn enough money to go to the Jamboree. However, I am confident with everyone’s continued support we will reach our goal. Thank you again and we appreciate all your support.
