    Houlton – Catherine A. Brown died April 9, 2010, at Houlton Regional Hospital after a long period of declining health. Catherine was born in the Brown Hospital in Mars Hill, Maine, on November 30, 1936, daughter of Susie (Blanchard) and Scott Brown. She attended Houlton schools and graduated from Houlton High School in 1955 and the University of Vermont in 1959. She received her masters degrees from Rutgers University and the University of Manitoba. Catherine taught at both the high school and college level in Pennsylvania and Brooklyn, New York, as well as high school in North Brunswick, New Jersey.
    She is survived by her daughter, Eleanor Pisarek-Sawyer of Houlton; grandsons, Joel and Aaron Pisarek of Auburn, California; and a special young grandson, Ethan Sawyer of Houlton. She is also survived by her brother Scott Brown and his wife, Carolyn, of Saybrook, Connecticut, and her brother Thomas Brown and his wife, Gail, of Bangor. In addition, Catherine is survived by her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and many cousins.
    Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Houlton Church Of The Good Shepherd Episcopal with Rev. Jessie Drysdale officiating. Interment took place in the Houlton Evergreen Cemetery.
