ASHLAND – Leroy Walls, 72, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010, at his residence. He was born June 1, 1937, in Tremont, ME, the son of Milton and Zelma (Wentworth) Walls. Leroy worked for many years at the paper mill in Bucksport and upon retiring, moved to Ashland. He enjoyed golfing at the Presque Isle Country Club, going to Castine every weekend to play poker, and playing cribbage with his friends in Ashland.
He is survived by his wife Opal Walls, of Ashland; five children: Marcia Simmons and her husband Ed of Readfield, Janet Frake of Redfield, Dennis Walls and his wife Kim of Bangor, Lisa Walls of Verona Island, and Katrina Walls of Bangor; a stepson, Daniel Veazie and his wife Kelly of Ashland; a stepdaughter, Sherri Watson and her special companion Michael Veazie of Blue Hill; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind five brothers: Edgar Walls and his wife Nancy, Milton Walls and his wife Jerry, Lonzo Walls and his wife Donna, Frank Walls, William Walls and his wife Dee; and two sisters: Ida Page and Jean Gilley; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Darren Walls; and two sisters: Wilma Seavely, and Leatrice Gilley.
