PORTLAND/GORHAM — The following full-time, in-state students have been named to the University of Southern Maine dean’s list for the fall 2009 semester. To be named, students must earn a grade-point average of 3.4 or above and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.
USM serves nearly 10,000 students with campuses in Portland, Gorham and Lewiston-Auburn.
Local students making the list include: Timothy Broome, Eagle Lake; Isaac Raymond, Mapleton; and Whitney Flint, Nashville Plantation.
BANGOR — A total of 269 students made the honor roll at the New England School of Communications, an affiliate of Husson University, for the fall, 2009, semester. They included 128 who achieved high honors (a grade point average of 3.5 or higher) and 141 who attained honors (a grade point average of 3.0 to 3.4).
Local students making the list include: High honors — Ryan Bagley and Amanda Nadeau, Presque Isle; honors —Joseph Johnson, Mapleton; Rick Fitzgerald and Paige Nichols, Presque Isle.
WELLESLEY, Mass. — Babson College has announced Molly Delano Hamel, of Presque Isle, qualified for the fall semester dean’s list, which recognizes outstanding student scholarship. Hamel is a member of the Class of 2011.
LEWISTON — Alicia A. Gilman, of Ashland, was named to the dean’s list at Bates College as a result of her scholastic standing during the fall semester of the 2009-2010 academic year.
Gilman, a major in Women and Gender Studies, is a 2006 graduate of Ashland Community High School. Gilman if the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael T. Gilman, of Ashland.
ELLSWORTH AND PORTLAND — The Maine Community Foundation’s Chet Jordan Leadership Award offers scholarships to students from Aroostook, Cumberland, Kennebec and Penobscot counties.
The award honors students who are achieving their goals despite hardship, adversity or disability. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate leadership, independent thinking, initiative and hard work in their communities and schools.
