Summer ice set at Forum
In July, when the weather is heating up, the Forum has an option for staying cool—hockey! For two weeks in the summer, children of all ages can participate in a camp geared toward teaching the fundamentals of skating, stick handling, passing, as well as team puck control and possession. The camp will include both on- and off-ice training.
Sponsored by Aroostook Amateur Hockey, the camp is scheduled for Tuesday, July 6 to Friday, July 9, and Monday, July 12 to Friday, July 16. Children can sign up for one or both weeks. Sessions will be broken into three age groups. There is also a session that meets only on Tuesday and Thursday designed for children who have never played before.
Darren Carlisle, former standout high school hockey player, member of the Presque Isle High School 100-point club and a Bantam head coach, will be leading the camp. He will be assisted by former standout high school hockey player Greg Cyr, Novice head coach Douglas Carlisle, and Carl Flynn, varsity hockey coach at Presque Isle High School.
The cost of the camp is $130 for one week or $170 for both weeks. Families can save by pre-registering before June 20 – $10 off one week and $20 off two weeks. The cost of the two-day session for children who have never played before is $25. A girls camp will be added if enough interest is expressed. Pre-registration is not required, but encouraged. Payment is due at registration on July 6.
No player will be allowed on the ice without the completed “Waiver of Liability.” The form can be obtained from http://piyh.goalline.ca/ under “Registration Forms.” The registration form for summer ice can be found there as well.
