Thoughtful neighbors

To the editor:
My husband and I moved to Connor Township last August. Since moving here we occasionally have trouble with moose going through our fences.     On Wednesday, May 5, five of our seven horses got out of the fence. We believe the moose broke the fence and the presence of a bear in our back fields contributed to our horses panicking and fleeing down U.S. Route 1.
Thankfully, many people stopped and tried to round them up. By the time we got home, many people were helping to locate the horses. Eventually they were found on Emond Road and we were able to catch them.
We want to extend our gratitude to all of those people who spent their valuable time helping us. We especially would like to thank two people who went beyond the call of duty. Lara and Henry Boudreau helped us walk our horses on the long 4.5-mile trek back to our property. Their help was invaluable to us and we greatly appreciated it. All made it home safely.
Thanks again to all the kind people here in Aroostook County.
