DOVER-FOXCROFT – Athletes from Fort Fairfield and Limestone-MSSM made the trip to Foxcroft Academy last Wednesday for the Class C State Track and Field Championships.
The event was originally scheduled for June 5, but was postponed due to heavy rains.
Two members of the Tiger girls team and two members of the Eagle boys placed in their respective events.
For Fort Fairfield, Katy Donovan garnered a fourth-place performance in the discus. Her throw measured 89 feet, 11 inches. Also, in the pole vault, teammate Melissa McKenney placed sixth by clearing seven feet.
The Tigers scored six points as a team, good for 21st place out of the 31 teams who figured into the scoring.
In the boys’ competition, Limestone-MSSM’s Jack Seguin placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles. His time was 16.72 seconds. Also, in the 1,600-meter racewalk, Peter Taddeo managed a fourth-place finish with a time of 8:26.14.
The Eagles scored seven points in the meet, placing them 22nd out of 34.
The John Bapst girls and the Sacopee Valley boys were crowned champions of the event.
