Busy weekend at camps and clinics
Varsity Knights
    Coaches from Madawaska, Caribou and Houlton kicked off the 2010 football season in Presque Isle and Caribou over the weekend. The Houlton varsity Knights were the best represented in this NFL-sponsored event.
    Head coach Brian Reynolds was impressed by the dedication of both veterans and rookies from the Knights who took time during the off-season to further develop their skills in classroom sessions and on-field training workouts.
    The Knights appear to be deep in skill position players.
    “This isn’t necessarily a bad thing,” said Reynolds.
    The Knights are returning 20 players and 10 starters from their 2009 perfect season.
    “I want to thank the players who were able to show this dedication and I look forward to seeing them all on August 2 at our first practice,” said Reynolds.
    Paperwork returns and equipment measurements will be on Saturday, June 26 at coach Cleary’s Law Office from 10 a.m. to noon.
Junior Knights
    A solid turnout at Mini Camp for first year Junior Knights was held at the Airport field on Saturday. The team reviewed fundamentals, had passing drills and performed calisthenics. Several varsity Knights were on hand to demonstrate and aid the junior high-age players.
     Varsity coach Andy Hay pitched in at station work and was impressed with the young team.
    The Junior Knights are reminded that a second and final Mini Camp will be held this Saturday from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Houlton Airport Field.
Peewee Knights
    Coaches Brian Forest and Bill Creagh enjoyed a big turnout of Peewee players. The coaches feel they have a solid basis for the future of football in the Houlton/Woodstock area and look forward to the upcoming season as members in the Aroostook Football League.
    The Peewees will conclude their Mini Camp on Saturday at the Houlton Airport Field from 9 – 11 a.m. (U.S. time).
Boosters
    The Boosters were busy last weekend helping to coordinate the logistics of clinics and mini camps. Many parents that are new to the game in the junior high and Peewee levels are urged to get involved. There are plenty of fun things to do with your player’s team.
