United Insurance of Presque Isle cooks for United Way
PRESQUE ISLE – The next time you visit the Hayden/Perry Insurance office to make a payment or to make changes to your insurance policy, don’t be surprised if you notice the irresistible aroma of breakfast cooking. You see, the busy insurance office morphs into an elegant restaurant on the third Friday morning of every month.
ONE FRIDAY A MONTH, staff at United Insurance, Hayden/Perry Agency cooks breakfast treats for their co-workers. Each employee makes a modest monetary donation to eat the extraordinary breakfast dishes and the money is contributed to the United Way of Aroostook. United Insurance in Presque Isle has raised over $450 from this effort. Taking their turn cooking for their colleagues are, from left: Sharon Matlock, Denise Townsend and Patti Lunn.
Since the beginning of the year, the staff at United Insurance, Hayden/Perry Agency has divided into teams of three to create a unique and delicious breakfast experience for their co-workers one Friday a month. Each employee makes a modest monetary donation to eat the extraordinary breakfast dishes and the money is contributed to the United Way of Aroostook.
Calvin Deschene, agency manager for United Insurance Hayden/Perry Agency, also took his turn, stepping away from his managerial duties to put on an apron and join his staff in the effort.
“There is a great amount of camaraderie between the employees and we have supported the United Way for years with the intent to continue to do so for many more,” said Deschene.
The diverse menu has included such tasty treats as fruit tarts, breakfast sandwiches and casseroles, scones, homemade pancakes, and more.
“The teams have become quite competitive with their lavish and unique meals,” said United Way Campaign Manager Wanda Guiggey.
United Insurance in Presque Isle has raised over $450 from this effort, not to mention they contribute via payroll deduction, as well. United Insurance, with 14 locations, continues to raise money for the United Way and other charitable organizations.
